Corail Noir & Aqua Diving join the Nosy Be Ocean Collective

Corail Noir & Aqua Diving join the Nosy Be Ocean Collective and commits to protecting the marine environment

We are proud to announce that Hotel le Corail Noir  has officially joined the Nosy Be Ocean Collective, a group of tourism operators and associations committed to sustainable and responsible tourism in Nosy Be.

By signing the Collective’s Commitment Manifesto, we join other excursion operators, dive centers, associations, fishing centers and local partners in a shared approach: reconciling our activities at sea with respect for and preservation of Nosy Be’s exceptional marine ecosystem.

Why this commitment?

Nosy Be is home to coral reefs, seagrass beds, green turtles, and welcomes the yearly passage of whale sharks and humpback whales. This richness is precious — and fragile. By joining the Collective, we choose to act concretely, at our own level, to help it endure.

What we are committing to

By signing the manifesto, our team commits in particular to:

  • Reducing and managing our waste: never throwing anything into the sea, collecting cigarette butts, reporting the waste generated by our business, and limiting our use of plastic.
  • Respecting marine reserves and protected areas, in compliance with current regulations.
  • Protecting coral reefs: avoiding any trampling of or contact with corals, raising client awareness about responsible, eco-friendly sunscreen use, encouraging the wearing of rash guards, and never collecting shells or corals.
  • Respecting speed limits near the coast, for the safety of everyone and of marine megafauna.
  • Applying respectful approach charters for marine megafauna, with a systematic briefing before every outing at sea.
  • Observing whale sharks responsibly: limited number of water entries, safe distance, and a strict no-touch rule.
  • Respecting humpback whales and cetaceans, including the ban on swimming with them.
  • Preserving the seagrass beds of Sakatia and Nosy Iranja, avoiding any damaging anchoring or trampling.
  • Actively contributing to the life of the Collective: participating in training sessions and meetings, raising awareness within our teams, and committing to carry this shared voice with integrity.

Each of these commitments reflects one simple conviction: protecting Nosy Be’s ocean also means protecting what gives value to our destination and our activities.

A collective commitment, not just an individual one

What makes this approach powerful is that it is shared. The Nosy Be Ocean Collective today brings together numerous operators and associations who, together, hold the same standard of responsibility toward the marine environment. By joining them, we strengthen a collective movement that goes beyond the individual interests of each business.

We invite our clients, partners, and everyone involved in tourism in Nosy Be to discover this initiative, to better understand the challenges of preserving our ocean, and — why not — to make this same commitment themselves.
