The Corail Noir hotel, a member of the AMANTA hotel group, is committed to the same ambitious environmental approach as all its establishments.
The Corail Noir’s restaurant favours local products from Nosy Be and Madagascar: fruit, vegetables, cereals, meat and fish. The menu changes daily, depending on the harvest and seasonality, guaranteeing fresh, local dishes, with vegetarian options always available. To promote a zero-mile diet, we have hired two vegetable gardeners to develop a vegetable garden that meets part of our fruit, vegetable and herb needs. Our crops include courgettes, cucumbers, tomatoes, aubergines, pineapples, papayas, potatoes, watermelons and bananas, as well as plants such as sage and basil. Our crops are sustainable, without the use of chemicals, and natural compost feeds our garden.
Our cleaning products are selected for their low environmental impact. As far as possible, we use local, environmentally friendly products for hygiene and cleaning. Promoting terrestrial biodiversity Our tropical garden is home to a wide variety of plants that we like to share with our guests. A free brochure is available at reception to guide them along our botanical trail. Another brochure describes the fauna, in particular the birds and reptiles in our garden. Our local guides are always ready to share their knowledge and during excursions we teach visitors the importance of respecting species by teaching them best practices.
Our sea excursions include educational aids to discover Nosy Be’s marine biodiversity: cetaceans, sea turtles, coral reefs and tropical fish. We collaborate with the Madagascar SharkWhale Project (MSWP) Foundation to protect marine mammals and whale sharks. All our sailors, divers and guides have received training on respecting marine species, to raise awareness and preserve this natural wealth.
Faced with the challenges of waste management in Nosy Be, we are committed to reducing waste production at source.
) Our teams are constantly working to adapt and improve these practices. Energy
We are reducing our energy consumption by gradually replacing outdoor lighting with solar lights** and installing photovoltaic panels, which already cover 20% of our electricity needs.
Our guests and employees are encouraged to adopt energy-saving practices, in particular by turning off lights and air conditioning and limiting water use.
The hotel showcases Madagascan culture, through handcrafted decorations, local products in the boutique and the organisation of cultural evenings with buffets of local specialities. Finally, we actively support the associations AMADA and Giovanna for Madagascar Onlus, which work in the fields of health, education and the environment.
